How Much Does a Website Cost in 2026? Prices in Pakistan and Worldwide

How much does a website cost in 2026? Rough price ranges in Pakistan and worldwide, what you pay per month and per year, and the nine factors that decide every quote.

How Much Does a Website Cost in 2026? Prices in Pakistan and Worldwide

Ask five agencies "How much does a website cost?" and you may get five very different numbers. That usually isn't because someone is overcharging. "A website" can mean a one-page business profile or a booking platform with user accounts and payments, and the final price is the sum of many small decisions.

This guide gives you rough price ranges for 2026, both worldwide and for website development in Pakistan, explains what a website costs per month and per year after launch, and walks through the nine factors that decide your quote. Treat every number here as a starting point for conversations, not a price list.

How much does a website cost? The short answer

Published 2026 price guides from web agencies give these rough worldwide ranges. They come from US-based sources, so they lean towards professional builds in higher-cost markets:

  • DIY website builders: roughly $17 to $500 or more per month, depending on the plan.
  • Freelancer-built websites: roughly $500 to $10,000 or more.
  • Agency-built websites: roughly $3,000 to $30,000 or more.
  • E-commerce or large websites: roughly $10,000 to $50,000 or more.
  • Custom platforms with complex integrations: can pass $100,000.

Quotes from Pakistani teams are usually much lower in dollar terms, so if you're hiring locally, the next section is the more useful guide.

Website cost in Pakistan: rough 2026 ranges

These ranges come from GoDaddy's Pakistan website cost guide (updated December 2025) and from packages advertised by Pakistani agencies and hosting companies at the time of writing. They vary a lot by provider, city and scope, so use them to sanity-check quotes, not to judge one.

  • Basic small-business website (template-based, about 5 to 8 pages): often advertised from around PKR 25,000 to 60,000.
  • Custom-designed business or corporate website: often around PKR 60,000 to 180,000, and more for large sites with many unique layouts.
  • Basic WordPress website: GoDaddy's guide puts this at roughly PKR 20,000 to 100,000, plus premium themes (about PKR 7,000 to 15,000) and paid plugins (about PKR 2,000 to 10,000).
  • E-commerce website: from around PKR 75,000 for basic packages, to roughly PKR 120,000 to 280,000 for custom stores with local payment gateways and courier integration. Multivendor marketplaces start much higher.
  • Large bespoke websites and web apps: GoDaddy's guide estimates roughly PKR 500,000 to 1,000,000 when built by a professional web designer.

Why website design cost in Pakistan varies so much

Two quotes for "a five-page website" can differ several times over. Common reasons: one includes copywriting, SEO setup and a year of support while the other doesn't; one uses a ready-made theme while the other designs from scratch; and some prices exclude tax. Premium themes, plugins and many hosting plans are priced in US dollars, so their rupee cost also moves with the exchange rate.

For online stores, the price rises with the number of products and variants, each payment gateway (cards, JazzCash, Easypaisa), cash on delivery workflows and courier integrations. Product uploads and photo editing are often left out of cheap quotes, so ask. If you're considering Shopify, our guide to Shopify store setup cost in Pakistan breaks down plans, themes and apps.

How much does a website cost per month and per year?

The build is a one-time cost. Running a website is a recurring one, and it's the part many budgets forget.

  • Domain name: standard domains usually cost around $10 to $50 a year worldwide. GoDaddy's Pakistan guide puts domain registration at roughly PKR 1,800 to 12,000 a year.
  • Hosting: shared hosting often runs about $5 to $25 a month, while VPS or dedicated servers can cost $30 to $200 or more. In Pakistan, shared hosting starts from roughly PKR 3,500 a year, according to the same guide.
  • Website builder plans: if you use a builder instead of your own hosting, the monthly plan replaces hosting. GoDaddy's guide says builders in Pakistan start from about PKR 2,500 a month.
  • Licences: premium themes, plugins and apps often renew every year.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups, security checks and small edits. GoDaddy's guide puts professional maintenance in Pakistan at roughly PKR 1,500 to 10,000 a month.

Watch for the renewal jump. Many hosts advertise a low first-term price that renews at a noticeably higher rate, so compare renewal prices, not just the launch offer.

Tip: When you compare quotes, ask for the first-year total and the expected yearly cost from year two onwards. A cheaper build with expensive licences can cost more over three years.

Website cost for a small business

Most small businesses don't need a web application. They need a fast, clear site that explains what they do and makes it easy to call, message or buy. By scope and time, projects usually group like this:

  • Starter: template-based, 1 to 5 pages, contact form. Often days to two weeks.
  • Business: custom design, 5 to 15 pages, blog, SEO basics, a few integrations. Often three to six weeks.
  • E-commerce: catalogue, payments, shipping and stock management. Often four to ten weeks.
  • Custom web app: user accounts, dashboards and business logic. Usually months, delivered in phases.

9 factors that decide how much it costs to build a website

1. What the website needs to do

This is the biggest cost driver. A brochure site tells visitors who you are and how to contact you. A lead generation site is built around forms, landing pages and tracking. An e-commerce store adds a catalogue, checkout, payments and shipping. A web application adds logins, dashboards and custom business logic. Each step up adds design, development, testing and security work.

2. Number of unique page layouts

What matters is how many unique layouts you need, not how many pages you have. Thirty blog posts share one template. Eight service pages that each need a different custom layout are eight separate design and build jobs.

3. Custom design or a ready-made theme

A theme-based site is faster and cheaper, because the layout already exists. A custom design starts from wireframes and mock-ups (usually in Figma), goes through revision rounds and is built from scratch. It costs more, but it fits your brand and customers rather than someone else's template.

4. The platform

WordPress is flexible and widely supported, with yearly licences for many premium themes and plugins. Shopify is quick for online stores, with a monthly plan and paid apps. Webflow and similar builders give strong visual control on a monthly plan. Custom code (for example Next.js or Laravel) gives the most flexibility and needs developers to change. If you're weighing a custom build against a ready-made platform, our guide on custom software vs off-the-shelf explains the trade-offs.

5. Content

Copywriting, product photos, team photos, videos and illustrations take time, and content is often what delays launches most. If the agency writes and sources it, expect that in the quote.

6. Integrations

Payment gateways, CRM software, email marketing, booking calendars, WhatsApp chat, couriers and accounting systems each need setup and testing. One integration can be small; a custom two-way sync with your inventory can be a project of its own.

7. SEO and performance groundwork

Clean URLs, meta tags, schema markup, sitemaps, fast loading and analytics are cheaper to build in from day one than to fix later. A low quote sometimes leaves these out, so ask directly. If speed matters to you, see our website speed checklist.

8. Languages and accessibility

A second language affects layouts, navigation and SEO settings, and right-to-left languages like Urdu or Arabic change the whole page direction. Accessibility work (keyboard navigation, contrast, screen reader support) adds testing time, and it's worth it.

9. Ongoing costs after launch

Domain, hosting, licences, updates, backups and small changes all continue after launch. A site nobody maintains slowly becomes slow, outdated and insecure.

How to get website quotes you can actually compare

  1. Write a one-page brief: goals, audience, must-have features, nice-to-haves, sites you like, deadline and budget range.
  2. Ask every vendor to split the quote into design, development, content, integrations and ongoing costs.
  3. Ask what is not included, and whether tax is included.
  4. Confirm that you will own the domain, hosting account, code and design files.
  5. Ask how many revision rounds are included and what support you get after launch.

Website cost FAQ

How much does a basic website cost in Pakistan?

A basic template-based business website of about five to eight pages is often advertised from around PKR 25,000 to 60,000. Custom design, copywriting, extra features and support push the price up. Always check what the package includes before comparing.

How much does a website cost per month?

It depends on the setup. A simple site you maintain yourself may only need hosting and a yearly domain, while a builder plan, paid licences or a maintenance contract adds a monthly fee. For Pakistan, GoDaddy's guide estimates professional maintenance alone at roughly PKR 1,500 to 10,000 a month.

Is WordPress cheaper than a custom website?

Usually, yes, for content-focused sites, because themes and plugins save development time. A custom-coded site costs more upfront but can make sense when you need special features, top performance or logic that plugins handle poorly.

Can I build a website for free?

Many website builders offer free plans, but they usually use the builder's own subdomain and show its branding, with limited features. For a business, a paid plan or your own hosting with a custom domain looks more professional.

Why do website quotes vary so much?

Quotes cover different scopes: unique layouts, custom design, content, integrations, SEO work and support. Ask every vendor to itemise their quote, then compare line by line.

The cheapest website isn't always the cheapest

A low quote that skips planning, speed, security or SEO can cost more later in lost leads, rebuilds and emergency fixes. Compare value, not just the number at the bottom of the quote, and judge your website like an investment that should bring in work.
